Working Together
Julia and Tim have begun working together, sometimes sharing cases, sometimes talking law, sometimes consulting with each other about our (anonymous) client's legal issues.
Our expectation is that by the end of 2012 we will form a partnership. We also anticipate that Julia will continue to practice law for many more years, but perhaps only three days a week. Julia really enjoys the challenge of legal issues and all her clients, who are delightful and thoughtful people, so it is extremely difficult to step away AND Julia wants to spend more time making art.
In the present, all the people in the suite are here to provide you with our services. Read on!

Ellen S. Rothman Ellen Rothman has been practicing family law for more than 25 years. Her practice is only in Marin County. She recognizes the value of resolving pre-marital, divorce, custody and community property issues without the necessity of going to court. She understands the benefits of attempting to reach a settlement by utilizing a non-confrontational approach rather than litigation. About 15 years ago, Ellen started to focus her practice on family law mediation and collaborative law. She was one of the founders of the Marin Collaborative Practice Group and continues to remain active in collaborative practice. Her approach is simple and effective. She assists people in seeing the big picture which helps them to make good decisions with the family in mind. At the same time this approach protects their rights. As a result of her extensive experience, she also is available to consult with people regarding pre-divorce planning, methods to save a marriage, strategies for the divorce process and post-divorce matters, including issues related to children and finances. Ellen also recognizes when the only effective approach is litigation. Then she is available to protect her client's rights, including the rights of custody, child and spousal support, and the client's lawful share of community assets. Ellen lives in the county and is the proud mother of two wonderful children. She has been an active community member serving on the Boards of several non-profits. She has served as a settlement panelist in the Marin County Bench-Bar program for many years as well as a volunteer for Legal Aid and the Family and Children's Law Center of Marin.
